It’s pretty ironic that it has been so foggy and cloudy out lately because I feel like Jesus has been giving me so much clarity regarding Him. He has been teaching me so much about simple intimacy with Him and how important it is.
One of the biggest things I’ve struggled with in my walk with God is being still with Him. This is probably due to that fact that I am a VERY active person so I can grow restless and get bored very easily. I’ve been learning that my restlessness can be subsided if I just look to Jesus. He is narrowing all my interests until my mind, heart, and body are focused on Him. Jesus says, “Look to me and you are saved,” not, “You will be saved someday.”
Isaiah 45:22 says,
So turn to me and be helped—saved!—
everyone, whoever and wherever you are.
I am God,
the only God there is, the one and only.
I promise in my own name:
Every word out of my mouth does what it says.
I never take back what I say.
I will find the peace, satisfaction, clarity, and intimacy I am looking for if I will concentrate on Him. I easily get distracted and irritable yet He continues to say, “Look to me, and be saved…”
It’s not about striving or trying to be more intimate with Him, it’s about simply grabbing onto those small moments when you can feel His affection and sucking every ounce of joy and love we can out of them. Intimacy isn’t about the big moments, it’s about a million small ones.
When you are intimate with someone you share everything with them, nothing is hidden, and that is what our relationship with God should be like. It not about striving to get His attention, because we already have his his attention and affection, it’s about just letting Him have ours.
Our difficulties, trials, and our worries about tomorrow all vanish when we look to God.
