It’s crazy to me how you can hear about God, know about him, do things for Him and even say the right things about him but not REALLY know and experience him first hand. The bible is full of stories and warning about this very thing so obviously it’s more of an issue then we currently think it is.
Jesus died on the cross so that we could have a close and personal relationship with Him. He died so that we could come before the throne of God and have a real, first hand relationship with Him. The Lord of all of the universe was so concerned with us knowing Him first hand that He created and executed a plan for it to happen. Jesus wants to personally know you and He’s always with you to ensure that this can happen.
It’s not complicated, it’s not ritualistic, there is not magical code, it’s Jesus living inside of us, wanting you to become aware of Him and have a personal relationship with Him.
I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be a person who lives off of others relationships with the Lord. I don’t want to live off of rumors of God. I want to know and experience Him for myself. Everyone who has excepted Christ into their lives has the same Holy Spirit, grace and access to the throne of God, just some choose to use it more then others.
I love Job 42:5-6. In Chapter 41 Job has been complaining and calling God out, then the Lord appears and puts Job back into this place and tells Him how mighty He actually is. In these verses Job is totally shocked by the revelation of who God personally reveals himself to be.
I admit I once lived by rumors of you;
now I have it all firsthand—from my own eyes and ears!
I’m sorry—forgive me. I’ll never do that again, I promise!
I’ll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor.
We have this great access yet we are fine settling with going to church once a week, listening to a few sermons and even listening to worship music occasionally. While all of these things are great and they will help you grow, they are no substitute for experiencing the Lord for yourself. Actually communing with him is a totally different thing.
I’m not trying to judge you or make you feel bad. I want to encourage you to step into really KNOWING God and experiencing him for yourself. Your personal relationship with the Lord will never look the same as mine or anyone else’s, and thats a good thing. You can bring revelation and insight in ways that myself and others will never be able to do. We need you to explore and understand more of who He is so that you can share with the rest of the body of Christ the things that you learn.
His characteristics out number the stars, you can never reach the end of knowing him. There is always more to learn, and things to explore about his nature. Don’t be afraid, be creative, ask questions and seek out more of who He is.
